truth about recycling in bozeman

Please watch this recycling slide show from the City of Bozeman to find out what is going on with recycling and glass collection in Bozeman. Be aware that any recyclables that are left out side of the binnies are thrown out and not recycled. Glass is being collected again but not recycled or reused until the City Commission can determine what to do with it. Have any suggestions?

Thanks, Catherine- It's really helpful to understand the ins and outs of this stuff so we can actually make recycling work. We have some recycling in Big Sky, (drop bins at one gas station), but we have to bring our plastic to Bozeman, which I often forget to do until we're swimming in it.

In the Seattle area communities where my brother and mother live, the level to which they've taken the curbside recycling programs is truly impressive. In that area, paying for trash service (and also, paying to take things to the dump, yourself) has become so expensive that the bulk of the population is motivated to participate in their community's recycling program. Sounds like a good idea, to me... make cavalier polluting too expensive, and recycling becomes a way of life for the mainstream!
